Location 22: first return

So Location 22 is the second sculpture case in Kroeber. I'm grateful for this writer because he or she made me realize how much I need to revise the instructions to include: "only write a little and then ask someone to fill in a little more and so on..." but this edition of Chapter two is actually really funny and appreciated. :)

Chapter Two (of Twenty-five)

The cats fell silent as dawn approached.

"Erin, I'm not going to call you Old Orange, and I am not going to take you out tagging with me anymore because the fumes are making you crazy!"

He couldn't stop thinking about her strangeness during the past few hours and blaming himself for it. The image of her remained freshly etched in his mind. Sitting beside the lake tracing circles with her fingers in the water.

"Erin," he began, "why do you feel the need to be called 'Old Orange'? I know you love the cats but they cannot be all you have."

She replied briskly, pushing her hair behind her ear: "These cats," she said pointing to the stray brushing against his leg. "These cats...they understand me, not only that but they also accept me. They never act cruel or judgmental, they never have expectations beyond being fed. This may seem strange to you, and that's fine...and if you no longer want to take me tagging, that's fine too."

Then he watched as she submerged herself into her thoughts. While he physically stood in front of her; in her mind, he knew he was gone. So he walked away, leaving her alone to lose herself in reverie. Then he began thinking of Ophelia, and the recent distance that had developed between them.

New Year, New Semester, New Methods

Today was the first release of 2011. Due to the unfruitful return of the narratives last year, I changed a few things around this semester:

1. I got a legit mailbox complete with lock and key.

2. I reformatted the instructions. Maybe they make less sense now, I don't know.

3. I have 23 locations documented and will use the same locations throughout the semester in the hopes that I can create an audience, as well as information on what types of people write and respond.

4. Each location has the same chapter.

So, I hope out of 23 places on campus one of them houses someone curious enough and creative enough to play this game.

P.S. I plan to post pictures of all the previous narratives at some point in the near future. :)

Chapter One

I decided to leave the Inboxes up in the hopes of someone turning in a chapter late and they did! I'm excited to announce Chapter One's addition to the story. Thank you so much for participating.

New school year, new release

Today I am releasing a quarter release (that means only about four chapters) just to test out the new directions format.

Have fun!

Whew

Okay, finals are over. I'm starting to settle into Florida for the summer and am planning a release once the stupid ink comes in the mail.

I was really disappointed in Floridians last time I had a release here, but I've not given up on them. I hope the next release is good and if it is, I'll do a video reading of it. Cool.

Next release

So for the next release (which will be May 6th). I will be doing the same locations, except I will use the instructions and inbox location of the most successful test. That way, I can maybe to try and figure out if the failure of last release was the directions or the locations.

Most importantly, I will be reading (kind of like a poetry reading) the chapters that are turned in and posting a video of it on here.
